The Brussels Latvian Theater… Who are we? Just like everyone, we are busy people who lead hectic lives, but a few times a week our way of getting away from the everyday is the theatre. Well, this HAS been going on since October 2005, so one could call it a tradition. Telling jokes, having a laugh, shedding a tear; in short – acting. Uģis Skuja brought together the originals, those from “Silmači”. Stories and adventures followed. And then arrived Pēteris Ancāns… and Winnie the Pooh. The Brussels Latvian Theatre has grown bigger and bigger as time has gone by, and this year too we have given some new performances. In celebration of our tenth anniversary, this season we are working on a new staging of Rūdolfs Blaumanis’ play “Skroderdienas Silmačos”. Our theatre was born through the ups and downs of the Silmači tribe, and we will return to our roots in July 2015, with the play “Vēlreiz Silmačos”. With time the world around us changes, but love, vulnerability and a good sense of humor are everlasting; that was the case for Blaumanis and of course, still is the case for us.
